ABOUT ABOUT

Murmuration Theatre Company–a new, queer femme-led indie company based in Brooklyn–hits the Teatro Latea mainstage in January of 2023 with the NYC premiere of five new one-act plays! Selected from over 300 entries, the chosen one-acts will star emerging talent from across Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens.

With House of the Holy Moment, Lemon Boy, Charlie, The Do-Gooders, and Rubies Don’t Bleed, Murmuration’s New Voices Showcase fiercely interrogates issues at the center of our collective consciousness: the ethical pressure-cooker created by global eco-crisis, connection & affection in the era of ‘smart’ tech, religion as business under late-stage capitalism, and much more.

About the Shows:
Lemon Boy (by Evan Rosen) is an absurdist romp which follows three women who live together as they try to navigate their relationships. Lemon Boy asks questions about fidelity, cynicism, and the idea of the soulmate.

In Charlie (by Beth Polsky), Two robots and their engineer creators come together in a bawdy but insightful comedy to discover the power of human connection and emotions.

House of the Holy Moment (by Cary Pepper): When the town of Appleton offered financial incentives to any new business calling itself a church, they didn’t expect 300 new registrations within the year. And they certainly couldn’t have anticipated Butch Haggerty.

In The Do-Gooders (by Jessica Moss), two couples are pushed to the breaking point as the conversation around climate change gets heated—revealing how sociopolitical issues can (and maybe should) strain our close relationships.

Rubies Don’t Bleed (by Matt and Ariel Sanders) is a quick and campy noir—complete with bona fide private investigator, Angie Steel—that packs a timely punch.
